Chairman’s Message

On behalf of the Games Committee, I welcome you to this year’s Games. Whether you are a visitor, competitor or official. A varied and full programme of events has been put together for your enjoyment with competitors coming from near and far.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the Games and therefore I have handed the Chairman’s baton over to Jim MacDonald. Jim is no stranger to the games, having been a long serving committee member in various posts.

The Committee are in the final stages of appointing our Chieftain. This invitation is usually given to a long-standing supporter of the Games, be it a local business person or dignitary.  My thanks are due to many people out with our Committee who contribute so much to the Games’ success. I wish to personally thank the members of our 200 Club, local businessmen who sponsor our events year after year and those who have agreed to sponsor today for the first time. Also, a very special thank you to all our loyal volunteers, who give up their free time to help with the preparations and clear up of the Games park.

May you take from here a memory of the diversity of our Games. From the ever-popular Highland Dancing, cycling, running, strenuous heavyweights, Tug of War, Pipe Bands and the extremely popular children’s events. Finally, I invite you to join our Chieftain and Jim in a great day of tradition, fun, sport and spectacle.

Haste ye Back
